On Sept. 7th Equifax one of the primary credit reporting agencies in the United States revealed that a data breach exploited a website weakness to access the personal information, including credit card and social security numbers, of as many as 143 million Americans.

Here are additional ways to protect your accounts and information:

  • always monitor your accounts for any suspicious activity
  • Update passwords and usernames often by using a combination of letters (capital and lower case), numbers and special characters (e.g. & or %).
  • Set credit and debit card usage notifications.
  • Set travel notifications.
  • Change your Access Number to a username for sign-in
