What is Student Choice lending?

Our Student Choice private loan solution was designed to fill the funding gaps that may exist after all lower-cost sources of aid (including scholarships, grants, and federal Direct Subsidized and Unsubsidized loans) have been exhausted.

Student Choice loans are available for select undergraduate programs, graduate-level business programs, and for refinancing existing student loans.

"Directions has allowed me the opportunity to attend college and realize my truest potential. I would have never been able to afford my dreams without the loan I am receiving from DCU and the help of the DCU team! Thank you!"
- Brittani A. Toledo, Ohio

Undergraduate loans

U.S. citizens or permanent residents who are continually enrolled in a degree-granting program and meeting the school’s minimum Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) criteria are eligible to apply for an undergraduate student loan from Directions.

Graduate loans

The Student Choice Graduate Private Education Line of Credit is designed to help you fill funding gaps that may remain after you’ve exhausted lower-cost sources of aid.

To be eligible for our private education line of credit, you must be enrolled in a degree-granting program at an approved school and a member of Directions Credit Union. You may apply without being a member of the credit union, but you will need to become a member in order for the loan to be funded. Be sure to review all eligibility requirements.

Student loan refinancing

If you’re a parent or grad school alum who borrowed a federal PLUS loan within the last several years, odds are good that you’re locked into an interest rate of 7.9% or even 8.5%.

Interest rates keep changing, however, and because of today’s historically low-rate environment, we can help you save!

With PLUS Loan Refinance, you have the chance to refinance your existing PLUS loans at lower fixed rates, consolidate multiple loans into one convenient payment, and potentially save thousands over the life of your loan.

With tuition and fees on the rise and federal aid limits remaining relatively low, you may need some help filling the gap. Student Choice Refinancing can help.
